Privacy
This page explains what data we collect on this website and in the yumories app and what happens to it. The website works without cookies, tracking or third-party services.
Who is responsible
The controller is net2com ag, Unterdorfstrasse 25, 9508 Weingarten-Kalthäusern, Switzerland. Please send privacy questions to info@yumories.com.
Representative in the EU
Our representative in the European Union under Art. 27 GDPR is Tanja Schneider, Velsen 75, 48231 Warendorf, Germany, email eu-vertretung@yumories.com. You can also contact her with any privacy question.
What happens when you visit
When you open a page, the server keeps a log like any web server: IP address, date and time, the address requested, browser and operating system. We only need this to run the website and the app securely and to find errors. The logs are deleted after 14 days at the latest and are not combined with other data.
Hosting
The website and the app are hosted by Metanet AG in Switzerland, which works on our behalf. Your data stays in Switzerland.
Cookies and browser storage
The website uses no cookies, no analytics and no advertising. Fonts, images and clips are on our own server. The app sets a single cookie so you stay signed in. So that it also works offline, it stores your device settings and copies of your recipes, images and shopping list in your browser; signing out deletes these copies.
When you write to us
If you send us an email, we only use your address and your message to reply, and delete them no later than 12 months after the matter is settled. There is no contact form.
The app
For your account we store your name, email address, password (only as a hash, never in plain text), language and settings. On top of that comes what you keep in yumories: recipes, images, cookbooks, meal plan, shopping list, messages and shares. We only use this data to provide yumories to you, never for advertising, and we do not sell it. Deleted recipes stay in the bin for 30 days. If the help cannot find a search word, we count that word without a name and without an account so we can improve the help.
Importing and translating recipes
When you import a recipe from a text, an image or a link, or have one translated, we send exactly that content and your list of categories to the language model Claude by Anthropic PBC in the USA. Your name, email address and account are not sent. Anthropic works on our behalf, does not use the data for training and generally deletes it after 30 days at most. The transfer to the USA is safeguarded by the EU standard contractual clauses with the Swiss addendum. When yumories loads a link or an image, that website only sees our server, not you.
Guests
For your guests you only keep a name and preferences in the app: what someone likes and doesn’t like. A first name or nickname is enough; yumories does not ask for an address, phone number or email. yumories does not ask for health data about guests – you clarify anything health-related directly with them. Guest profiles are stored encrypted on our server in Switzerland and only you can see them. If you connect your meal plan to your calendar, it receives the dates; guests’ names only if you explicitly turn that on.
Sharing and app emails
Whatever you share with family or friends, those people can see. The app only sends emails when necessary: to confirm your address, reset a password or let you know your account has been activated. You invite people without an account with a personal link that you send yourself; yumories does not write to them and only learns their address once they sign up. Requests nobody accepts are deleted after 30 days.
Backups
So that nothing gets lost, we back up the app’s data every night and store a weekly snapshot of every collection on our server in Switzerland. We fetch the nightly backups over an encrypted connection to a computer owned by the operator. An additional copy is kept in Microsoft cloud storage; it is encrypted (AES-256) before it leaves that computer, so Microsoft cannot read it. Guest profiles stay encrypted in all backups. Weekly snapshots are kept for eight weeks, nightly backups for 90 days at most. If you delete your account, your weekly snapshots disappear the following night; your data drops out of the nightly backups after 90 days at the latest. You can export your recipes yourself at any time in an open format.
Signing in with Google or a passkey
In the app you can sign in with Google or with a passkey instead of your password. With Google, we only receive what is needed to sign in: a fixed identifier of your Google account, your email address and your name. We store the identifier and the address with your account, nothing else; we never see your Google password. Google learns that you are signing in to yumories. A passkey stays on your device or in your password manager; we only store a public key, a counter and the name you give it. Your face and fingerprint are checked only by your device and never reach us. Under “My account” you can disconnect Google and delete passkeys; if you delete your account, both are gone.
Legal bases and retention
We process your data to provide yumories to you (contract, Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR), for secure operation and protection against misuse (legitimate interest, point (f)) and where the law requires it (point (c)). In Switzerland the Federal Act on Data Protection (FADP) applies. We keep your data as long as you have your account. If you delete it, we delete your data immediately, except for the backups, from which it drops out as described above.
Your rights
You can ask at any time which data we hold about you and ask us to correct it, delete it or restrict its processing. You can object to processing and take your recipes with you in an open format. Write to info@yumories.com. You can also lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority: in Switzerland the Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner (FDPIC), in the EU the authority of your country.
